Spa Supplies FAQs
What should I look for in a hot tub cover?
1- Quality: One of the most important things that you should look for in a hot tub cover is quality. You want your cover to last for as long as possible. Cheaply made covers may do their job for a short while, however, eventually it will break or tear. A strong cover will not only prevent accidents and aid your spa in functioning it will also last you over the years.
2- Durability: Your cover needs to be made from a material that is weather resistant and will not easily be destroyed by the elements. You also want to make sure that your cover will not wear from constant use and handling. Depending on how much you use your spa your cover will be removed and replaced- your cover should not rip or tear from this constant process.
3- Ease: When purchasing a hot tub cover for your spa you should make sure that it is not extremely difficult to remove and replace. Your cover should be relatively easy to remove from your spa and replace as many times as you want. Difficulty with placing your cover may result in rips and tears as well as decreased effectiveness. The only exception to this rule is in households with children. When children are present covers need to be harder to remove to prevent any accidents that may occur.
What types of chemicals do I need to purchase?
Many spa owners have 4-5 different types of chemicals that they put in their spas regularly to ensure it functions properly. There are many types of chemicals that are meant to balance the pH in your spa. PH is extremely important when it comes to the water in your spa. Because the water is being reused and chemicals are repeatedly being added the water often become imbalanced with other chemicals. Demineralizers are chemicals that are added to the water of your spa to break down minerals that may be present. Often times the water you place from you tap into your spa contains many minerals that can build up in the filter and the pipes of your hot tub. Demineralizers are important to prevent such build up. Cleaning chemicals are also a must have for your spa. It is practically impossible to drain and disassemble your spa for regular cleaning. A cleaning chemical will flow through the hot tub and clean as it does so. Cleaning chemicals should be present in your spa constantly however in large amounts they will damage your skin and clothes so be careful.
